LONDON, UK – NOVEMBER 26, 2013 – Fresh from the success of its first game, Super Penguins, downloaded by over 10 million people around the world, the mobile gaming company Supersolid launches its second game, Adventure Town. Supersolid also announces that it has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Index Ventures and Initial Capital. It plans to use the funding to expand its London team, form new partnerships and expand distribution of its games around the world.

“Adventure Town has been designed to be widely appealing to casual gamers on smart phones and tablets, while also offering depth of content that keeps players engaged in the long term,” explained Kenneth Fejer, co-founder and creative director at Supersolid. In Adventure Town players are tasked with rebuilding a destroyed town and attracting heroes to defeat menacing monsters. Quests, a bounty board system, and progressively greater monsters and dungeons provide players with continuous challenges and rewards.

Co-founder Michelle Chuang added: “We’ve mixed RPG elements with city building and resource management mechanics to create a highly original mobile game. We hope the quality, style and variety of the art and animation makes Adventure Town a real delight to play, and a fresh experience for mobile gamers.”

Adventure Town is available for download for free in 12 languages on iOS and Android devices today and will soon be made available on Kindle Fire and Windows Phone 8.

The game was built by a close-knit group of gaming veterans from Playfish who created some of its most popular games including Pet Society, Restaurant City and other pioneering and category-defining social games. In total, they have developed over 70 games together at different companies during the last 10 years.

Ben Holmes, a partner at Index Ventures, explained why he is excited about Supersolid: “This was a unique opportunity to invest in a proven games development team and we were highly impressed by current games and the game pipeline.” Sami Lababidi from Initial Capital added: “Supersolid are one of the most creative and productive gaming teams in the industry. Having worked alongside them for over 10 years I am delighted to be able to continue our relationship with this team.”
